Twenty four fixed line operators in sixteen Arab countries served 27.5 million fixed lines by end of Q1 2015 down from 28.2 million by end of 2014; a drop of 2.21%. A new report from Arab Advisors Group analyzes and ranks 24 fixed service operators in sixteen Arab countries. Telecom Egypt, Saudi Telecom (STC) and Syrian Telecom (STE) stand out as the largest Arab fixed line operators in terms of mainlines.
The analysis reveals that by end of September 2015, twelve Arab countries had liberalized their fixed line markets. Telecom Egypt had the largest fixed line base among the examined operators, followed by Syrian Telecom and Saudi Telecom. UAE recorded the highest fixed line penetration rate by end of 2014 followed by Lebanon.
