Under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, the 2nd Electronic & Mobile Payments in the Arab World Conference commenced on April 4th 2016 in Amman at the Four Seasons Hotel. The participants deliberated during the conference the ongoing trends in electronic and mobile payments in the Arab World.

Amman, 4th April 2016 - HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and chairman of the board of trustees for PSUT ( Princess Sumaya University for Technology), inaugurated the 2nd Electronic & Mobile Payments in the Arab World Conference taking place in Amman at the Four Seasons Hotel. The conference brings together top regional and global executives.

During Her Royal Highness’ key note speech, HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan said” It is a very great pleasure to welcome you all to this unique conference on Electronic and Mobile Payments in the Arab World. We are indeed meeting at a vital stage in the development of national and regional economies, as access to services and inclusion in every aspect of economic activity shift from the age-old methods of physical wealth and tangible capital, to a virtual ecosystem in which all must be given equal access to economic life and prosperous opportunity.”

HRH added, “The countless ways in which electronic and mobile payments systems may make life better for all in our society include financial services such as credit, savings, insurance and payments and remittance facilities. More than that, they offer economic and social enfranchisement opportunities that are sorely needed and long-deserved”.

“The evolution we are discussing is a global phenomenon that will determine which borders between nations and within societies we carry with us into a new economic age. Wealthy households in our region and around the world have long lived in the care of a digital financial system that eases their economic lives and makes economic activity cheap and accessible. They have long had instant control of their immediate and future economic lives, and have enjoyed an independence that many in the world can only dream off”, HRH also said.

Faisal Hakki, Arab Advisors General Manager said "The 2nd Electronic and Mobile Payments in the Arab World Conference will look at the Role of Banks, Payment Networks, Regulators and Telcos and how these are shaping the different ways payments are being fulfilled electronically and using handheld devices”.

Mr. Hakki added” The significance of well-structured, accessible and affordable payment systems cannot be overstated. In a sense, Payments are what keep the World working; they are primary to our markets and contribute directly to the prosperity and stability of our economies. Simply put - without these Payment Systems, the exchange of goods and services could not happen. Equally important and integral are Electronic and mobile Payment Systems. Compared to their Old World counterparts, these paperless cashless systems offer a wide spectrum of direct and indirect benefits including reduced transaction costs, increased compliance, improved workflow efficiencies, greater money circulation, better capital accumulation, in actual fact, enhanced security”.

“We thank HRH Princess Sumaya for her continuous support. Our thanks also go to our sponsors, speakers and delegates for making The 2nd Electronic & Mobile Payments in the Arab World Conference a successful event. Today’s event also comes at an opportune juncture for our company as we expand our range of market research and consulting services in 2016 to include the Financial Service Providers industry with a strategic research offering parallel to our existing Telcom and Media coverage.” Hakki added.
