This report analyzes the mobile data revenues reported by operators in 14 countries. The introduction of OTT messaging and calling applications and the wider adoption of mobile broadband by customers has imposed downward pressure on traditional voice and SMS revenues. We believe that operators can make use of the high adoption rates of mobile broadband, at least on the short-term, by offering their subscribers a variety of data-centric plans. The Arab Advisors Group analyzed data revenues for three cellular groups namely, Zain Group, MTN Group and Telefonica Group, in addition to du in the UAE. The report provides a comparison between the countries undertaken in this study in regards of data revenues, their contribution to the overall revenues and their growth rates.
