SUMMARY:
A new report by the Arab Advisors Group explores the Investment and Venture Capital landscape in the Arab World. Investors are increasingly showing interest in funding and supporting technology startups in the region, given their potential in providing solutions to some of the economic problems faced by the Arab World, such as providing alternative methods of youth employment. The report provides an overview of 25 VC firms and angel groups in the Arab World, including a comparison between them in terms of their stage of funding, fund size, average investment size, location, and the number of startups in which they have invested. It highlights a potential gap in the stages of funding which venture capital firms cover. Finally, the report provides an overview of successful startups in the MENA region; startups which were able to raise a significant amount of funding in rounds closed in the years 2016 and 2017.
